Good morning, I’m facing a really confusing problem. I own a lot of Dell Optiplex 5090 desktops (i5 11th Gen, 8GB RAM, 512GG NVME SSD). These are being used to upgrade a local preschool that needs all their computers running Windows 11. Their original machines had a 1TB HDD with Windows 10. I’ve cloned the 1TB HDD to both a 1TB NVMe SSD and a SATA SSD using Macrium, but neither is recognizing the drives when connected to the Dell. Initially, I encounter a BSOD with the error code “INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.” After rebooting, I get Windows recovery options, but both show the SSDs can’t be seen—whether SATA or NVMe. The old SSD still works perfectly. During recovery, I sometimes land on an X drive to a non-writable partition, which makes me think there might be an EUIFI issue or something I’m misunderstanding. I know this sounds like a beginner’s mistake, but both SSDs do boot in other machines. I’ve attached some early bios screenshots. My apologies for the poor quality. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Adjust the SATA configuration to AHCI in the previous image.

I tried it now. Interestingly, I managed to refresh the bios yet still faced the same issue. It’s strange since other tests indicate no drives are connected. I’m puzzled about why this happens with both SATA and nVME connections.

Consider inserting the boot drive into another NVMe or SATA port on the motherboard.

It might be related to the Intel RAID driver. You usually need to load it manually before installing Windows, or it won't detect any drives. Switching the SATA mode to AHCI turns off Intel RAID/RST—though I'm not entirely sure if this affects NVMe settings, so you may want to look into a specific Intel RST configuration.
