I'm planning to purchase a Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED and need some advice on installation. I've watched two videos: one where someone had to add a metal bracket in the back of the motherboard, and another where the installer didn't need it. Now I'm checking my own model (GA 970A UD3P Rev 2.0) and notice a metal plate where the bracket should be, which looks soldered. My motherboard already has screws on the front. Should I still install the bracket like in the first video? Wouldn't that risk damaging it? Or should I just follow the second video's instructions? Thanks in advance.

These videos are intended for an Intel setup, but you have an AMD board. You should watch this specific video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO4yokgcOY4. Alternatively, follow the printed instructions that came with the cooler.

Regarding the retention bracket on your board, it is not soldered—it is secured by screws. You’ll need to take the motherboard out of the case to remove it, as the bracket’s top screws are concealed by the case design. Once removed, you can use a cooler that matches the existing AMD retention bracket.
