This was my initial project and I believed everything was set correctly. I ran a test before installing all parts. After seeing the post screen, I powered down and continued building. When I tried to connect the PSU, a brief blue light appeared at the USB 3.0 port and now the CPU won’t start. What might be wrong? Could there have been a short in the motherboard? I’m not entirely confident.

Capture images of the board's front and back where the flash appeared so we can clearly observe it.

A symbol is present there—it might be a scorch mark, though it's hard to tell. The pattern resembles the chipset heatsink design. If the spark harmed the chipset, the system won't start with this board.

The board seems to be in place instead of being removed. It shouldn’t cause a burn or hot spot when the rig is placed outside the case.

A burn mark that’s easy to remove, a hot spot that remains stubborn—OP should check whether a paper towel or finger can clear it (just one pass is enough)
