It seems discussions are swirling around nearly every topic, and I saw it as a chance to speak out against DayZ. This game had potential but ultimately fell short, according to my understanding of the development crew—mostly Russian developers who seemed to lose interest once they hit millions in pre-orders. They claim fixes are underway and new content is being added, but progress is minimal and the issues persist. The bugs keep appearing: inventory problems, slow updates, weird mechanics, and more glitches. Over the past six months, nothing has improved significantly; it still feels like the original version. While it might be fun for a while, the overall experience is frustrating and broken.
My frustration grew when I tried to share my concerns online. Instead of a constructive dialogue, I was silenced. I also posted on Steam, unaware it was moderated by DayZ staff. Despite warning others not to buy it in its early stages—especially since it’s a pre-release—I felt I was being ignored. My friends in indie development have shown much faster progress, which only deepened my disappointment.
Eventually, I had to close the thread, feeling let down by a community that’s been misled. The forums seemed to suppress voices like mine, pushing away anyone who expressed doubt or lost hope. I even reached out to a mod and was warned by someone named Gaben to be banned from the Steam group. I’m worried about what Valve might do next, but for now, this is my perspective on an early access title that’s clearly lost its way.
They’re always pushing early access, but no clear timeline was given. Updates keep coming, yet progress feels slow. They’re maintaining a consistent workflow despite the delays.
This early version of the game might evolve a lot during development. If you're not eager to play it now, consider waiting until it matures further.
The dev team is actually Bohemia and they really put effort into their projects. They’ve created excellent games before, like ARMA 2 and 3. I’ve noticed some major updates in the past six months, including bug fixes for zombies getting through walls, added hunting features, more towns, items, and so on. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with the game overall—especially considering the improvements they’ve made.
Don't be sick of these DayZ complaints ExconHD. Listen to reason you sweet summer child . "It's early access alpha" doesn't exonerate any company from any and all faults. Go listen to Totalbiscuit's video on early access games! It doesn't matter that it's early access alpha because it has been early access alpha for months, as was the mod that came before it. Promises of progress have been recurring for months, over a year now with no progress. They say they plan to do things, but they never do. Patch after patch, minor changes are brought up, so minor you have to assume that they're putting only a few man-hours a week to do it. They won't make it, because there's no progress. There's no progress because there's no work. There's no work because there's no pressure on them to do work. This is early access for you, ExconHD. A developer with no incentive to work beause they've got their early access money with no conditions. People who still support this game which is obviously stagnating are doing it on pure faith. And so you know that I'm not writing this because I'm an angry 12 year old, know this: I don't want my $30 back, I got my money's worth. And know that when I started playing, I didn't think much of the bugs because it is indeed an early access alpha. But 6 months after buying the game, you'd expect to see some progress. You would see some progress if they were truly working on the game. They ****ing aren't and you're lying to yourself if you think they are. To reiterate, I'm 100% fine with bugs in early access alpha. But if you see no progress in 6 months, well it's obvious that it's not moving forward. The zombies still go through the walls btw. Walls and doors. Literally always.
I have 410 hours logged. I understand most of your concerns, but it's tough to stay encouraged when your finances are already secure.
