I completed my first PC this weekend. Although I haven’t built one before, I assisted friends who did. When we started assembling my build, we already knew what needed to be done. We linked the necessary components and assembled everything inside the case without testing it first due to overconfidence (that’s a mistake). My setup includes an MSI z790 ACE (used by a family member), an i9-12900K (new), Corsair 1000w RM1000x SHIFT 80+ Gold (new), MSI 3080 suprim X (used, should work on another machine), Corsair H170i Elite LCD (new), 4×16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 6400, a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD (new, empty), and a wd_black SN850X NVMe SSD (new, empty). After connecting everything and trying to boot, the system started working normally—RGB lights lit, fans spun, and it passed checks. We encountered an A2 error during startup, indicating the system couldn’t locate the boot drive. I consulted the motherboard manual; it was an IDE detection issue. Online research confirmed the problem stemmed from the inability to find a boot device. I’m unsure what caused it, but I considered connecting a bootable SSD or flashing the BIOS.

Hey, the latest Sony model is available... probably thinking about Samsung, solid SSD performance, though it's a bit pricey.

I would also remove 2 sticks of Ram, A1 and B1.

I've connected it to both the GPU and the motherboard, but it's still not working.

I also attempted to run it with just one stick of RAM as the lowest possible configuration.

It seems like you're troubleshooting a setup issue. The problem might lie with the cable or the CPU. The BIOS version shouldn't cause issues, as Z790 supports the 12th generation from the beginning.

I attempted without the GPU attached. Would you like to use another display, perhaps a TV? Is it connected via HDMI, and do you have an alternative cable?

Update the BIOS using Q Flash and use DDR4 memory.
