Hey everyone, I just assembled my first PC but it doesn’t boot properly. I used a Z790 MSI Pro Wi-Fi motherboard that shows debug lights. The boot light came on, which suggests an issue with the SSD. I only have one storage drive—a Samsung 970 EVO 2TB NVMe SSD in the CPU slot. After reinstalling it, the light still worked, but when I moved it to the third PCIe slot, the light disappeared and I couldn’t boot anymore. The NVMe SSD isn’t listed as a boot option in the BIOS, so is it even possible to use it for startup? Also, I tried using a USB stick (16GB) as a boot drive, but that didn’t work either. The system keeps restarting after entering specs: Msi Z790 Pro Wi-Fi DDR4, Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 3600MHz, MSI PCIE5 PSU 850W, Lian Li AiO Galahad 360, Intel i5 13600K, MSI Ventus 3060. Could you help me figure this out? Please share any reference images.

It might be unusual here. You may need to experiment with a few approaches. If everything appears fine: Reinsert the SSD into the first available slot. Connect a Windows installation USB drive. Start up via the BIOS and choose the USB as the boot device. Once installed, install Windows onto your SSD. If this fails, reset your BIOS settings back to defaults by touching the pins on your motherboard. Make sure your drive was detected during the initial two boot attempts—this suggests the PC attempted to start from a non-functional drive and kept restarting. For more accurate guidance, please share your BIOS details or PC specifications.

Msi Z790 Pro wifi ddr4 Corsair vengeance rgb ddr4 3600mhz Msi pcie5 psu 850W Lian Li AiO Galahad 360 Intel i5 13600k Msi ventus 3060 It was not looping automatically but when I exited bios it gave me blackscreen and after 5 sec I entered bios again. It is true there is nothing on my ssd, but it also does not show up. I want to slot my ssd back in 1st slot but for some reason the green ez debug light is on. When i put it in slot 2 or 3 it is no ez debug light. You still recommend slotting in the first? In mobo manual it says that first slot is connected directly to cpu and others not. i am now downloading the usb I will try it

Open the drive and navigate to the BIOS settings. Ensure the M.2 slot is configured for PCIe, not SATA. Power off the system. Connect the storage device into the top PCIe port. Restart the computer.

I changed it back to slot 1 and put in the Windows 11 USB drive. Right away the system switched to the Windows screen without any BIOS showing up. Just saved my chance! Would’ve had to buy an HDD or SSD otherwise.

A driver is required which must be installed via the Windows install media prior to the drive becoming functional. Thank you for resolving this issue.
