Here’s the advice in a new way:
You’re taking the right path. Keep your focus here for now. We’ll catch up soon—maybe next year.

Game development will increasingly focus on cores as the project progresses and code improvements continue. Hyperthreading remains relevant mainly for video editing and post-production tasks at this stage. It seems unlikely any upcoming titles will benefit significantly from HT in the near term. Regarding graphics cards, it's recommended to choose a model with the highest available VRAM. Modern games demand large texture sets, so maximizing your VRAM ensures smoother performance, particularly at high detail settings. I currently own a 980ti and it performs well even at higher resolutions. If you prefer a quiet build, avoid the reference cooler—it produces considerable noise compared to the 3-fan setup. The G1 graphics card from Gigabyte is outstanding.

Focus on core performance while keeping hyperthreading in mind. For gaming, it works well.
