Initial PC Construction – Custom Star Citizen Setup
I've been studying PC construction a lot lately. Here are my thoughts on your queries. First, for Star Citizen only, you're choosing duel 970s – that should work fine. Second, about the processor, I understand multi-core benefits but aren't sure how it impacts Star Citizen performance. Third, hyper threading is a topic I'm still exploring; it might help a bit depending on the workload. Fourth, regarding cost, you're aiming for a reliable machine without overclocking and keeping things quiet – that's a smart approach. If you're okay with aftermarket cooling solutions, it should suit your needs. As for overclocking, it's generally safe to avoid unless you're experienced; sticking to stock specs will give you the most stability and longevity.
Do you prefer starting immediately or waiting until it's finished? Edit: I'll consider a 980ti option right away.
Looks like you're curious about Star Citizen and its requirements. It seems you're considering whether it fits your current setup and budget. You mentioned the game is still in development, which makes sense given its demanding nature. You’re thinking about using a SLI GTX 970 for 1080p at the moment, but keep in mind that performance might vary as the game evolves. Overclocking isn’t recommended unless you're aiming for maximum performance, and it’s important to balance power needs with stability.
I’d opt for GTX980 with 4GB if you need ultra graphics, then proceed accordingly. Building a solid PC is crucial, especially when gaming is the main focus. I’d recommend an i7-3770 for smooth performance. Regarding your budget, what amount are you planning to spend? Also, do you prefer 720p or 1080 resolution?
I played for a short time and my laptop didn’t handle it well. From what I found, SLI 970s works fine with 1080p. In the end, I want around 60 frames per second. Otherwise, it’s not great. I’ve had trouble with FPS before—I thought it was because my computer wasn’t powerful enough, maybe my own performance or a mix of both. I just want to play fairly and not blame the machine if I’m not good.
The game isn't optimized yet. It seems the best person to contact is @Adreyu, as he appears to have a more efficient setup.
