Initial overclock attempt on my old PC i4770k reached 4-4.1Ghz
Hi, so after advice from forum I've been trying to squeeze bit more perfomance out of my I7-4770k - Hero 4 mobo.
Nothing fancy just wanted to push to a safe 4-4.1GHz. I followed step by step preset guide from same cpu on youtube though video very outdated.
Here is my first test at 4.1GHz I've included BIOS changes and a 10 minute cinebench test.
Spoiler
Turned it down 4Ghz:

For some reason when both 10 minute tests ended, the screen went black for split second not sure if that is relevant.
I get better score at lower speed 4Ghz
Anything you recommend I change or anything that seems really off? Thank you !
they're still pretty stable below 80. forget the stress test, it's about how the system performs when you actually use the pc for its main tasks. that's what truly matters. how does it handle games or whatever else you do? it seems likely to stay under 70 during a game, which is acceptable. nothing to be concerned about. just keep an eye on it during a typical gaming session to get a clear idea of the temperatures. my 4690k remains below 65 no matter what I do except for a test that doesn't reflect real-world use.
Hello!
This minor variation in Cinebench R20 might happen occasionally. A 100MHz overclock seems to have little impact on overall performance. Regarding the black screen issue, are you certain it happens immediately after the benchmark ends or if it appears unpredictably?
do you have enough cooling? those chips required more than the standard cooler to perform optimally.
i own a 4690k system with a hyper 212 evo, which has been running at 4.2 ghz since i installed it—no issues. temperatures remain low and stable. it might just be the chip's cooling limiting its performance.
Yes, the benchmark timer hitting 0:00 didn't occur, which is unexpected. It seems like the ten-minute test didn't run as expected, possibly due to some settings or configurations. The temperatures staying around 70 degrees could be normal depending on the situation.
It's possible the motherboard isn't capable of handling the overclock.

It has been operating smoothly with temperatures ranging from 40 to 50 degrees during the game.
