Setting up my first desktop feels like a new journey. The last one was a 733mhz single core for reference. I'm curious about splitting a PWM signal into four 120 fans using y splitters and whether that would give me solid control. Are there differences between Windows versions (Pro, etc.) that might affect my audio book recording, CAD work, or gaming? Also, can I connect one Corsair Commander to another via USB? Built in a Corsair 1000D—definitely worth it for the price, so I'm focusing on quiet cooling. My plan: two layers of 3x140mm fans for top performance, 8x120mm Noctua Chromax front, and 2x140mm rear. The case came with a Corsair Commander, just like the AIO. Any advice would be appreciated.
You can use a splitter with PWM fans while ensuring you stay within the header's current limits. Check the header capacity in the motherboard manual and note the fan draw listed on the fan label. Make sure your motherboard supports multiple fan headers, allowing you to cluster fans and manage them collectively via Corsair software as if they were a single unit. Regarding connecting a second Corsair Commander to the first's USB pass-through, it should work. If problems arise, always connect each device to its dedicated header. Good luck!
