Initial high FPS, then decreases over time
Hello, as you've read in the title, I've been suffering from low FPS for a while. A quick summary, I repasted my laptop some days ago because it has been having throttling issues both in CPU and GPU, model is a Nitro 5 with GTX 1650 and an I5 11400H (yeah it sucks), the temps didn't improve in the CPU side so I'm considering another repaste with another paste since mine could've been affected during its time stored, whatever. The problem starts when I'm playing games that are mostly CPU bound, like APEX, I start with 120 or a little more FPS, sometimes 200 and it goes down as more things pop up, but then after some minutes it goes down to 90, then dips to 60 and from 60 to 30 until I restart the game, and mind you, this happens in all games, I thought it was the CPU getting some thermal throttle and tried using Throttlestop disabling turbo just for the sake of having more stable FPS on the long run. but then it happened again, after playing some 60°C temps in CPU and 54°C GPU this thing starts to go down.
Example
No disable turbo cap
CPU: 4181 Mhz (max) 4080 Mhz (avg) 85°C - 90°C
FPS start: 200 (Max) 120 (Avg),
FPS after throttle: 80 (max) 60 (avg) 49 (after some time)
Disabled Turbo
CPU: 2688 (Max - Avg) 58°C - 61°C
FPS start: 100 (Max) 80 (Avg)
Fps after some time: 70 (Max) 60 (avg and it becomes the new high with no changes)
In one of the scenarios there's an obvious thermal throttle, but in the second one there's no need for it to go down as it does, it gets worse in open BR.
Any recommendations or solutions that do not imply in throwing away the laptop? I don't know what to do and I'm hoping it's not some type of terrible physical damage, but the game goes back to normal after restart, and this does happen with most of my FPS games, but it doesn't happen both in No Man's Sky nor Cyberpunk 2077.
Thank you and God bless y'all for answering me. Sorry if my english is lacking.
When discussing other FPS titles, it reminds me of PUBG Battlegrounds which begins at 60 then drops due to thermal throttle, though without turbo it starts at 50 (still manageable) and falls to a maximum of 25 FPS.
I've observed that my GPU often decreases both voltage and speed when I disconnect, but upon reconnecting it quickly recovers to near full performance—possibly due to driver issues, which I'm working on fixing soon to ensure a stable solution.
Around 1700 MHz and 30 Watts during gameplay, disconnecting drops it to 1380 MHz and 14.8 Watts at peak, then it slightly recovers to about 1500 MHz.
Check disk drive details such as make, model, capacity, and current usage through Task Manager and Resource Monitor. Run both applications simultaneously but keep only one open to maintain visibility. Continue normal activities like working or gaming while monitoring for fluctuations in FPS. Pay attention to which resources are being consumed and how they relate to performance drops. Try to identify any patterns linking system changes to FPS variations.
