Hi, this is my first time getting an overclocker setup.
I mainly read about this kind of thing and didn’t do it, sorry for that.
I have a GTX 1050 with 2GB RAM and tried to overclock it.
After applying the afterburner settings, I reached +197 core clock and +1000 memory clock.
On average, I get around 55 degrees, sometimes up to 70 if I’m doing really demanding tasks.
Is this typical?

yes, it's typical if you're seeing 70 degrees with full GPU utilization, that's completely acceptable.

No, don't be afraid but always verify after an overclock. Check the voltages, perform a GPU-heavy benchmark to see if it crashes, monitor the temperatures, and only then settle for those settings.

Just to mention, try playing games for a long time because I believe the 1000 ock in memory is quite shaky; 500 should function fine without any problems, while 700 is the maximum.
