Initial Configuration - NVMe Not Found in BIOS
I'm experiencing issues with the new build. The NVMe SSD isn't showing up in any of the three slots during BIOS setup, even after updating to the latest version. I tried using Windows 11 and the Intel RST driver, but it still can't locate the drive. After moving the drive into an external USB-C case and connecting it to another machine, it worked fine there. I reset the BIOS to factory defaults and cleared CMOS, with settings set to Intel defaults. A minor XMP overclock at 4800Ghz was applied for stability, but no other overclocks were added. The M.2 slots are enabled. This seems to be a problem with the drive itself rather than my configuration. I've assembled many systems before and thought it might be a bad drive, but now it's looking like an MB issue. Both drives are brand new. Have others faced similar problems? This is unusual for me. System specs: BIOS v1812 (2025/02/11), silent base 802MB, ASUS Z790 GAMING WIFI7 CPU, integrated GPU, NVMe 990 Pro 2TB, RAM CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB DDR5, PSU SeaSonic Focus GX-750.
It functions properly within a USB-C enclosure on a different device.
It seems the main designers at ASUS insist that CSM needs to be turned on for modern storage devices to function. However, this feature can only be activated if you have a separate GPU, since they turn off CSM when using built-in graphics. This approach feels quite outdated in today’s tech world. The Compatibility Support Module works with NVMe Gen 4 drives, but I’m puzzled—my monitor isn’t DVI-compatible, and I’m hoping for a graphics card release around 2027.
