Initial build with Ryzen 5 3600 and Vengeance LPX 3200
Hello, for someone just starting out with overclocking, it’s best to begin with small adjustments. Focus on tweaking the CPU and GPU voltages gradually. Avoid changing RAM speeds or power settings unless you’re certain. For your setup, start with a modest boost of 10-20% on the CPU and GPU, then monitor stability. Keep an eye on temperatures and fan noise—don’t ignore unusual sounds. Stick to manufacturer guidelines and test one setting at a time. Good luck!
Isn't PBO a significant change on its own? I believe it's just my adjustment that triggered the issue. It produces a high-pitched sound when the computer is powered off, as long as it remains connected to the MB. It also emits some noise even when disconnected from most devices (including a power cable left unplugged), which seemed unusual to me.
To overclock the DRAM, you'll need to follow specific procedures carefully. Since they're running at 2666 MHz, proceed with caution and ensure you fully understand each step before making any changes.
Ryzen 3000 offers limited overclocking potential, yet some users report improved performance through a full clock boost. Generally, gains remain modest, around 2-3% above stock. Memory usage appears to deliver the biggest performance improvements. The chip favors high frequency and low latency. Options like 3600 CL 16 or 3200 CL 14 offer good value for money. Even with these settings, a noticeable boost seems unlikely—perhaps only 3-5%—especially with solid memory and precise timing. I’m not convinced the effort is worthwhile, though many would argue otherwise.
