Initial actions following a fresh Windows 10 setup.
Hello, I'm UDONTO. I'm getting ready to set up a Windows 10 machine for the first time. You've probably heard that Windows sometimes tries to sabotage itself (at least that's what people say). That's why I'm wondering what steps I should take right after installing Windows 10, besides making a backup. This way, if anything goes wrong, I'll be as prepared as possible.
Check your drivers for the card and CPU you have installed. You can perform some tests, but using the PC is essentially the same. Verify that all your RAM is functioning properly and that your storage is present without any issues.
Proceed with the fresh setup, apply all updates, install necessary drivers, and add essential programs such as 7zip, Winamp, Notepad++, Office suite, etc. Once completed, remove remnants of previous updates from the system drive using the assistant tool, then perform a backup.
For a 3900x, upgrading to a slightly better GPU like an 2080 Super would be a good choice.
