Hello... asking about the compatibility of your setup. You're considering using four 8GB RAM sticks with 3200MHz speeds on an MSI B550 MPS Gen 3 motherboard running a R5 5600 CPU. It sounds like you're looking to boost performance, but there are some factors to consider.

Certainly. However, many would likely recommend using two 16GB cards.

It seems there are two dual-sided sticks under four single-sided ones, but for better performance, go with four 8-pin sticks. For compatibility, use two 16-pin sticks, though avoid 4x8 with unknown interfaces that might cause issues like slower speeds or no signal at all. Stick to known interfaces—bare PCBs or reputable manufacturers like Crucial or Klett—since you’re familiar with the connectors.

Current issues mostly involve 16GB sticks that are all single-rank, making it hard to identify which ones are dual ranks.

Except for new items, you should purchase second-hand.

Dual-sided memory isn't always dual rank. A single rank is generally lighter on the controller, allowing for higher frequencies with fewer transmission errors. Dual rank adds complexity but often provides better performance gains. Two sticks per channel increase the risk of extra noise. I believe most 16 GB modules remain dual rank, as the larger chips (2 GB each) are more suited for 32 GB devices rather than smaller ones.

Typically older 16GB drives are single-rank and single-sided, while modern consumer RAMs often come in quad-rank or higher. Dual-sided means dual-rank, which is common for most consumer units.

Your B550M and R5 5600 memory controllers should work fine for your setup. With a 4x8GB configuration, you’re using enough RAM to run the system smoothly. Your Kingston Hyper X Fury 8GB sticks are also suitable for this configuration.

The numbers shown in the image represent basic minimum requirements for the motherboard. The Ryzen CPU also comes with some official specs, but they’re even more restrictive. Intel processors seem to officially support a maximum of 3200 MHz DDR4, though in practice you can often exceed that. The 5th generation Ryzen should work fine with four sticks at 3600 MHz, and the board is designed to handle that. In the worst case, if your motherboard is poorly rated or defective, you might only be able to run three sticks at 3600 MHz instead of all four, in which case lowering them to 3200 MHz should still be possible.

It's no surprise your motherboard came with a yellow goo upon unboxing
