ing a Bolshie ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 BIOS?
I'm having trouble with my 2 year old Thinkpad T14S Gen1 laptop. The BIOS is broken and the computer won't turn on. I need to know how to reflash it and what kind of flash programmer I can buy. Will the flashing process erase any BIOS passwords I saved? Is a cheap CH341A eeprom programmer enough, or do I really need to spend more for the expensive Vertyanov Successor programmer?
BIOS isn't the only thing that can go wrong. The two biggest things are when your Windows setup is broken or if your hard drive fails.
You don't need to replace your motherboard's main chip just because a setting is broken. Instead, open the laptop and take out the little battery for a few hours (leave it overnight if possible) so all settings reset back to their original factory state. Make sure no electricity touches the device while you do this. Here is a link that shows you exactly what steps to follow: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76I2Ec9K7lw Usually, the built-in BIOS settings are already perfect and you don't need to mess with them manually.
Thank you for the advice and the video link. I'll take a look. I'm hoping it won't cause problems, like messing up my BIOS password or something similar.
BIOS passwords live somewhere else, so you can't get them easily here because they aren't that valuable anyway.
