I wanted to share this approach with a Bluetooth mouse that was stuttering, even though it’s quite particular and unlikely to help most users. The problem was rare enough to rarely appear online.
I encountered an issue with a wireless mouse on a new system, having reviewed many discussions and tried various fixes.
The recommended fix was connecting the motherboard’s external Wi-Fi antenna.
Although not listed in the manual for the Gigabyte B850M series, it seems the system’s Bluetooth (2.4GHz) relies on the antenna.
Since there was no antenna plugged in, the connection remained weak and unreliable. I hadn’t used the antenna because my internet was via Ethernet, and I had disabled the desktop’s Wi-Fi.

Thank you for bringing this up again. It's a useful prompt to revisit for anyone facing BT connectivity problems.

The PC functions as a shielded metal enclosure, protecting against electromagnetic interference.
How do you believe Bluetooth is transmitted? Via radio waves.
Of course, it requires an antenna.
This applies to all desktop computers with built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
You can skip the external antenna in these cases:
Laptops include an integrated antenna.
Desktops with USB or Bluetooth dongles have their own antennas inside the dongle.

Last week I received this wifi and I truly don't require the antenna since I already have a direct ethernet connection. So, do I still need the antenna for my Xbox controller via Bluetooth? The bluetooth on the PCIe card is linked to internal USB. The mobile device doesn't have built-in wifi.

Of course! I'm just realizing what 'sufficient' meant in that situation. I wasn't sure about the limits of the different grilles on cases or how they could have addressed the issue. It seems the Wi-Fi antenna port had "Wi-Fi" listed next to it, but not Bluetooth, and the motherboard manual didn't mention BT. So, unless you were using Wi-Fi specifically, there really wasn't a clear reason to need an antenna.

Just to clarify, technically the frequencies for WiFi and Bluetooth are almost identical. The shape of an antenna is mainly determined by the signals it transmits. Therefore, it makes sense that both WiFi and Bluetooth use the same antenna protruding from the back, and you must install that antenna to operate either one or both.
