I bought several 20 Acer C731 Chromebooks on eBay. I quickly realized most had unstable connections when the AC adapter was plugged in. I experimented with different jacks, but nothing resolved the issue. Replacing the jacks would cost around $10 per unit, so I opted to modify them instead. I removed the jacks and directly connected the AC adapters to the cables linking to the motherboards. Each cable contained five wires—two red, two black, and one green. The black and green wires linked to the charger’s negative wire, while the reds connected to the positive wire. It functioned perfectly!

You effectively eliminated the possibility of mobility from the mobile computing device by physically connecting the adapter or power brick directly to the Chromebook's motherboard. Your actions will prevent the device from charging and discharging normally. To restore normal operation, you'll need to connect to a wall outlet or disconnect the adapter when not in use. Additionally, the adapter's presence will lead to the wire being wrapped around the Chromebook, gradually weakening the connection over time. Even if soldered, the laptop's wires will continue to degrade.
