she uses a WD my passport drive, but she doesn't understand why it's functioning this way. it's meant to save files once connected, or at least that's what they said. so she occasionally plugs it in.

I mainly relied on a 1TB Seagate external drive while using my MacBook. When it reached capacity, I installed a NAS for storage.

I assembled it myself using components I already owned, and it’s operating as xpenology — meaning it uses the Synology NAS operating system.

My Imacs Fusion drive is showing signs of wear, so I replaced it with an external SSD (probably Corsair) connected via USB3. I keep the internal HDD for additional space. I’m mixing in different storage options—mainly WD drives, plus some Seagate and Toshiba units, mostly using USB3, though a few run Firewire800.
