In short, I bought many i7 6th and 7th generation CPUs and listed them on eBay at typical prices. I sold them gradually without any major discounts. Almost right away, several people offered to buy all of them. They weren’t demanding huge reductions, just a bit less than what I was asking per unit. They’re unlikely to resell for profit either. What am I missing here that they’re seeking?

Likely for hardware, they must back that which has reached the end of its lifespan; this makes inventory management simpler before supply disappears completely.

They might have aimed to purchase them at low prices to resell them later, or another idea could be in play. What specific number of CPUs are you referring to? It could also relate to someone wanting to acquire them all and hide them for creative use.

Approximately 30 units are in consideration. At this cost level, they might increase their earnings by about $10 per CPU, though eBay’s charges would likely erase any gains.
