When I use Skype, people can clearly hear my game sounds, music, YouTube clips, and other audio from my computer. This issue seems specific to Skype; it didn’t affect Steam voice chat. I’m using a headphone with a microphone.

It seems to be sending Windows audio directly into the Skype call rather than using the microphone input.

Open Skype and navigate to Tools, then Options. Adjust Audio Settings by selecting Microphone and ensuring the stereo mix is not selected. If needed, move the stereo mix to the bottom of the list under Advanced Settings.

Pumping audio straight into Skype without using a headset. The sound is direct and clear, making it noticeable to others, but it feels unusual.

Listen to this device should be unchecked in the Playback devices window for your speakers. Click right-click the sound icon at the bottom right, select Playback Devices, locate the device meant to receive audio, right-click again, choose Properties, click the Listen tab, and ensure 'Listen to this Device' is off. Repeat this for all playback and recording devices.
