Hello, I chose to experiment with extra overclocking on my 8086k since more performance sounds appealing. I adjusted the ratio from auto (likely around 43 at 4300MHz) to 45 while keeping the base clock at 100 and using auto voltage. Everything worked smoothly; BIOS reported a speed of 4500MHz. I observed the frequency jump to 6600MHZ, then reached nearly 7400MHz across all cores within minutes, without any crashes or issues during gaming. This is something new for me—how could this happen? Should I be concerned?
It seems there might be an error in the data provided. The numbers don't align with typical performance metrics—only 72ºC and 86W power to reach 7.3 GHz across all cores? That efficiency is quite low. It could be a software issue or measurement inaccuracy. Most CPUs don’t operate at such high frequencies without extreme cooling, like liquid nitrogen, and even then, only a handful with massive power supplies.
Garbage data readings are not cause for concern. Main focus should be on achieving 4.5g as a weak "oc," targeting 4.8-5.2g, with a safe voltage limit of 1.45v (core voltage = VccSA / safe voltage). Preferably keep full load below 90°C.
I haven’t done much OC yet. I just tried a small amount to see what happens. I’m planning to go higher now, but I was concerned about the HWmonitor data.
With a pitiful 4.5g allcore you are better off stock since stock will turbo to 5g so no that "auto" isnt a static clock its a dynamic clock, youll only see gains with allcore above 4.8g since 5g turbo is likely only on 1 or 2 cores And no theres no risk of killing hardware as your mobo likely doesnt allow instakill voltages (2.1v+ vcore) and degradation voltages (>1.5v) cannot kill your cpu only degrade and thats true till you hit instakill voltage where the cpu just dies the instant that it recieves that voltage, and for real dead not just heavily degraded
Incorrect display common in HW monitor. Poor software for tracking sensor data; suggest using HWinfo64.
Isn't Auto OC trash? Yk uses way too much Vcore for certain frequencies like 1.45GHz when you only need 1.3V. It's just set static Vcore at 1.3V and keeps the multiplier fixed at 50 for 5GHz. If you can't adjust settings in the BIOS, don't bother leaving it at stock.
It's a bit of a mess here. This guy I work with seems to think everything is trash. The email and request are just that—trash. That person with the tattoo is also trash. It's not like we need perfection; stock characters are fine, and auto OC works if he wants it better. Maybe he should clarify why he thinks things need to be more efficient. We don’t have to chase every tiny improvement.
