I own a 1440p 165hz monitor with a 5800x resolution, running at 4950MHz. The CPU is a 3600MHz RAM system with an ASRock B550 Steel Legend RTX 3080 Ti gaming graphics card, paired with a GAMEROCK OC Arctic Liquid Freezer 3. I’m considering upgrading to a 5700x3D display but am unsure if it would be a significant boost for my setup. My main games include Warzone, Mw3, single-player titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Remake, RDR2, and others.

I’d likely skip it unless I’m going to the 5800X3D, since that should prevent the need for another upgrade soon because of the extra cores. Alternatively, I could just observe whether switching to the 7800X3D a few months from now would be more beneficial.

I’d choose the 5800X3D if the price gap isn’t large. Otherwise, opt for the 5700X3D. I visited a 5800X3D (prior to its release) from a 5900X because the 12c/24t Zen3 was limiting my performance with the new 6950XT in PUBG 1440p.

Uncertain about the resale value of your 5800X, perhaps $100 to $120 might be realistic. The 5700X3D at $210 offers a noticeable boost for 1080p, making it a $100 improvement with better performance. If you manage to save for an AM5 upgrade, the value could rise closer to $200. The starting price around $400 (including board and components) suggests it’s a solid investment for future upgrades, especially since AM5 provides better upgrade potential. The advantage lies in flexibility and long-term value.

This won't significantly improve your setup. A modest boost might appear in some titles, but achieving 4950mhz with a full core overclock in cb23 isn't realistic.

Results weren't very straightforward in Cinebench R23 with around 4750MHz all cores, but in games it's roughly 4800-4950MHz based on the game's needs. My Cinebench score seems better than average for that chip. I applied PBO plus Curve optimizer tuning.

It doesn't seem worthwhile. Since you're already moving up on a struggling platform, why not aim for the best? At least consider something like 5800x3D.

It's actually more intriguing when the 1% lows appear, especially in competitive settings.
