So I heard about overclocking a monitor and thought I should definitely do it. I looked up on YouTube to see how I would do it and so I followed the steps until my monitor was unstable. I was originally on 144hz 1080p and I keeped adding on an extra 2 hz. I did it for a while and when I got to 160hz I decided to go up 5hz every time I tested. I was on 175hz and thought this isn’t real but I checked on the UFO website thingy and it displayed 175hz. I keeped going up 5hz until I was on 240hz. I didn’t want to go higher because I don’t know how the hell I was on 240hz on a 144hz display. I have the sceptre 1080p 24inch c24 144hz curved monitor. I am basically trying to ask is this real?

If the over-clocking method you try functions without harming the monitor—whether in the short or long term—or doesn’t cause any instability, then it’s acceptable.

Which YouTube channels were you checking?
I only saw a few results when searching for “how to overclocked monitor,” but the videos showed minimal improvement.

Maybe...
Uncertain about your actions regarding the source YouTube sites you used.
It’s possible you received a lot more than expected, yet I’m worried about the potential long-term impact on the monitor if you pushed it to those extremes.
There might be some trade-offs or risks involved with the overclocking setup.
Returning to your original question: "real"?
Think about it—you could have increased the settings further and still had the monitor stick to its design maximum instead.
Be cautious when following what you see on YouTube and similar platforms.
Hopefully, you wouldn’t be trying to eat laundry pods—but some people do on those sites...

I could probably go even further, but I don’t feel the need since my GPU can’t handle more than 200+ frames in games at 1080 but I also wouldn’t try it because of the risks or the “trade offs”. I just used nvideas control panel and adjusted the refresh rate. The first issue I noticed was screen instability, though I don’t have that problem. Do you need a picture proof?
