Hello, here’s what I have right now: Ryzen 5 3400G, MB A320M Galax, 8GB RAM (2x4GB DDR4 @2400mhz), SSD Evo 860 500GB, HDD 1TB WD, Infinity HDD case. For more details, check the link provided. As mentioned, I’m planning to switch my RAM from 8GB to 16GB at 3200mhz. My current PSU only supports 250W, but my friend suggested running the setup at 16GB with 2400mhz (still not overclocked). Since I intend to upgrade my PSU later to 500W, his advice seems reasonable for now. The main goal is to boost RAM for gaming needs like Modpack Minecraft and Modded Skyrim SE, which need more memory than just faster speeds. Thanks for your support!

DDR4 needs minimal energy, so when it functions properly now, it should also perform well with additional RAM.

If you purchase 3200mhz RAM, it's unlikely your 2400mhz system will support it. I've seen it work at 3133 before, but pushing it with high voltages isn't safe or advisable.

A memory stick uses 2-3 watts. The gap between a 4 GB and an 8 GB stick is likely around half a watt. Your Ryzen 3400g uses about 50 watts on average... possibly reaching 80 watts if it's heavily loaded (like encoding video or gaming with integrated graphics). The SSD draws 3-5 watts, while the hard drive consumes 6-8 watts. The motherboard (chipset, sound, network) uses roughly 10-15 watts. Overall, your system probably stays under 100-125 watts. Adding more drives won't cause excessive power draw. You can purchase memory sticks up to 3200 or even 3600 MHz, though performance at those speeds isn't guaranteed. If you need lower frequencies, you can manually adjust them—such as 3200, 3000, 2933, 2666, or 2400 MHz. If I recall right, the A320 chipset officially supports up to 2933 MHz. The 3400g model can handle more, but the exact limit depends on your motherboard and BIOS.

Thank you for your helpful response. I'll review my bios once the 16GB module is installed and powered on. I'm hoping it performs optimally; otherwise, I might consider upgrading my motherboard later.

Reviewed the bios and discovered the memory overclocking options are configured as Auto. Enabling it allows you to select a memory clock speed of up to 4000mhz.
