Increased frames per second when running in windowed mode versus fullscreen?!
I recently received a Valorant beta key, installed it, and began playing, but the experience felt clunky initially. I possess a 144Hz monitor and a powerful PC capable of achieving frame rates exceeding 144 in most games. Upon examining my in-game performance, I observed only a consistent 60-64 frames per second. Switching to windowed fullscreen dramatically increased my frame rate to over 300. I encountered a similar issue with League of Legends, where fullscreen performance peaked at 120 fps, while windowed fullscreen consistently delivered 144+ frames. I'm curious about the reason behind this discrepancy.
Maximizing your screen can lead to issues with certain video games. Windows 10 includes a borderless fullscreen mode as part of its system. After acquiring a game from Steam, I immediately disable this feature for the game's executable file before playing.
