Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this. Let's move forward. I'm currently testing these configurations (if anything is missing, just let me know): CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 @Stock GPU: MSI GTX 1080 TI Gaming TRIO MOBO: MSI B450 GAMING CARBON WIFI MEMORY: 32 GB 3000MHZ CL15 Corsair PSU: Corsair CX650 Monitor: AOC 27" 2560x1440 144hz FPS. In Valorant and League of Legends, I sometimes hit 144fps (with both VSync enabled and off), but often it drops to around 70-80fps. In League of Legends, it's usually about 120-130fps. The problems I'm encountering are in both Riot and Valorant games. My main issue is that my CPU usage stays near 30% and the GPU also doesn't seem to be handling much load. My game times look high, especially during matches, with spikes up to 12ms and an average around 6ms, while a friend with the same CPU achieves 2-4ms. Anyone have any advice on what might be causing this? Even though my FPS numbers aren't bad, I hope my system can actually sustain at least 144fps in both titles. Thermal readings are fine – CPU reaches 55°C and GPU stays under 45°C during play. Best regards, Vlad

VSYNC can lead to FPS locking at or near 60 FPS, while setting it to the maximum of 60 FPS directly controls that limit.

I'm using a 144hz, 1440p display, which makes sense to note. I'll adjust that shortly. I've tested both VSync enabled and disabled; they produce identical outcomes. Notably, without VSync the maximum FPS is slightly better. Relevant info from HWMonitor shows Utilization Limit is set to 1 and active. This might be due to the CPU spending too much time and not challenging the GPU enough.

Check if your system uses the newest BIOS and chipset drivers. Verify that XMP is activated within the BIOS settings. See if disabling HPET improves performance.

The update was made the previous day regarding chipset drivers. XMP support is active, allowing the memory to reach up to 3000MHz. HPET performance remains unaffected. Let me clarify for you.

I'll try this in a second, it's worth a shot.. I mean, haven't kept up-to-date with the GPU market since I bought my current one so it might be this one is getting outdated as well(?)

The 1080Ti remains a strong GPU now. It performs marginally better than AMD Radeon's latest model and matches Nvidia's 2070 Super in capability.

I first noticed the FPS problems while watching this video. At that moment, my CPU and the next lower GPU were outperforming my average FPS by roughly 100 or more.
