Hello! I assembled my latest PC: Gigabyte Aorus Elite x570 Ryzen 3700X, Gigabyte Gaming OC Rtx 2080, Super CMW16GX4M2C3200C16, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB, 3200MHz RAM. Since I installed 3200MHz RAM, I also wanted to run it at that speed. I attempted to enable the XMP profile, but it didn’t work reliably—games would crash or cause BSODs. I’m relatively new to overclocking, but I thought manually setting the timings instead of using XMP might be better. I’m unsure which timing settings to pick. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Adjust your BIOS configuration to the standard setting, then refresh it. It will operate at 3200MHz or faster without any problems.

Hi Mate, your setup looks solid. I have a Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi with a 3900x and Corsair Vengeance CMK32GX4M2B3200C16, which is quite similar. I discovered I needed to install the latest BIOS (F6b for me, F5b for your board), access the BIOS settings, select "Load Optimised Defaults," and adjust the memory timing accordingly. This ensures stability and maintains the 3,200Mhz speed—previously it would drop to 2,133Mhz after each cold start or lockup. I changed: 1. Memory Profile X.M.P. to "Profile 1" 2. XMP High Frequency Support to "Level 1" (i.e., 3,200Mhz) 3. System Memory Multiplier set to "32" manually. I only modified fan profiles, enabled PBO in BIOS, and turned on ultra-fast boot—though not essential. Let me know if this helps! Edited October 11, 2019 by Guest

When I played Mordhau for five minutes it worked fine, but then the screen went black and the PC restarted. After rebooting, I couldn’t enter my Windows password before it shut down again. This was similar to what happened after the BIOS update. Later, I turned off XMP and everything functioned normally. However, checking Task Manager showed my RAM was still at 3200MHz, even though I hadn’t adjusted the system memory multiplier back to auto. It’s possible the setting was overlooked. Would changing it to 2133MHz help?

Just verify the memory speed in the BIOS under the “memory” section—expect around half the rated rate, which means roughly 1600MHz for a 3200MHz system (double data rate memory). Enable “Load Optimized Defaults” and XMP with Profile 1, Level 1 for optimal stability at 3200Mhz. It seems you may have activated XMP alone or used the manual multiplier option. Have you tried XMP on Profile 1, Level 1 with auto multiplier enabled, keeping everything else in BIOS set to default? Also, as mentioned, have you downloaded and installed the latest AMD chipset drivers from here, and the newest nVidia drivers from this source? You might want to run initial stability tests without any additional software—just use Gigabyte’s Fast Boot app (if fast boot is enabled) or RGB Fusion for lighting control. Stress testing tools like CPU-Z, Superposition at 1080p, or Prime95 for a couple of hours can help confirm system reliability before making further changes. Good luck!
