Hello, I'm playing GTA V at about 50fps with maximum settings. I'd like to increase the performance a bit. My system includes an i5 4690k, an EVGA GTX 980 AC2, and 16GB of RAM. I've recorded the processor speed at 4.49GHz and a temperature of 77°C. Please let me know if you need more details. Thank you!

Are there any background programs running? Try to minimize CPU usage as much as possible.

Adjust a few parameters then one 980 isn't sufficient to maintain 1080p at full performance with all settings at their highest levels.

I'm curious if the 3,770s could handle this game at full capacity.

I also run certain applications in the background mainly for temperature monitoring. I have another monitor active, should I turn it off? I’d prefer to keep it on, but if that’s the only option, I’ll consider it. It seems fine without 60 frames per second, but I’ll take a closer look.

Certainly it functions, but it won't operate at 60 unless you reduce AA or disable certain advanced options. A few adjustments are only slightly visible.

No, I believe it could make a difference.

Question it, adding too much speed usually only gives a few extra frames, requiring a 1/5 power boost which is quite demanding to keep at 60fps.
