Increase from 3200 to 3600 volts
Increase from 3200 to 3600 volts
I recently assembled a new PC and encountered a RAM stick that was defective. I plan to visit Best Buy early this morning, but they only carry 3200 MHz units and I previously owned a 3600 MHz configuration. Can it be easily modified from 3200 to 3600 without significant issues?
Seconded – it might work if both matched, but a mismatch? Not an option. Get some more 3600 online and hold off.
I’ll purchase an entirely fresh configuration. I’m making sure there’s no compatibility issues.
They didn't match in speed. It would work fine if you bought the same brand and model 3600.
My 3000 15-17-17-35 runs at 3600 16-18-18-37. But.... it took literal WEEKS to dial it in. It also highly depends what actual RAM die chips the kit you get have. I have decent Hynix chips that OC decently. But some chips are total duds, and some are amazing. There is A LOT to RAM overclocking, its not super simple. Sure, adjusting the XMP value to 3600 should work without issues.
