The board will limit the CPU if the VRMs overheat, typically around 90-110°C. If the 2700X doesn’t throttle, it should be fine. Assuming it works, both chips are rated similarly in amperage, though the 5950 may handle lower voltage better. 90a.

Honestly, gaming performance isn't the top priority. I'm looking for better value in terms of productivity, like compiling faster, full CPU cases, and using Unity. Edit: Would a 5900X sit idle?

They don't match. Results vary a lot in actual testing. The 105w shows an unusual TDP that doesn't fit the pattern.

Absolutely, my 105W CPU handles 225W effortlessly when fully loaded. It performs similarly to the 65W CPU delivering 140W under the same conditions. Both run smoothly with PBO enabled.

Base clocks at 3.7ghz consume 105 watts for each chip. It appears the typical power limits aren't clearly defined on AMD designs. The boost technique isn't considered part of the p-states, which means extra power usage isn't factored into the marketing claims.
