I've noticed the fans running high even when idle and the rpm not settling to zero in the temperature range. After resetting the SMCEP it worked temporarily before returning. I ran a full format, so it might not be that issue. It seems to happen only when Safari is open with one tab on Reddit. MacBook Pro 13 2017
No, the PRAM hasn't been reset. The activity monitor shows no resource-heavy processes.
Safari tabs often cause the kernel to use 115% of the CPU. Appreciate the advice, will give it a shot when I return.
Just started browsing on Reddit and YouTube around that time. The fans didn’t slow down even after heavy use, staying around 3000-5000 RPM. This week I ran a full format with SMC and PRAM reset. After cleaning the hard drive but before reinstalling macOS, everything looks fine. Fans shut down after playing City Skylines and park at zero when it’s cool enough. Now I can browse again with fans off, which is great.
