I own an older CPU model, the A10-7870k. I'm curious about ways to boost performance or FPS in games—like overclocking, increasing GPU speed, or boosting RAM speeds. I have AMD Overdrive enabled. This is my first time here 😅

Buying even a small GPU will deliver significantly better outcomes than what APU can achieve. Keep in mind that even then, you may not notice impressive performance when playing new games on that processor. My past experience with a similar chip (a8 7600) showed that adding a GTX960 often led to near-total CPU utilization. If you want quick results, invest in a GPU with a future-oriented design and consider what it can unlock. Begin planning your next CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade.

that is the old apu platform from amd
yes, you can try to overclock it, but the actual performance gains from the cpu are limited—usually only a few percent, around 3 to 4 fps at its maximum, which is about 7 to 10% extra.
in most games, the gpu part is more crucial, so i never focused on overclocking the gpu on those apus. i don’t care if it’s possible or how much improvement you’d get; if it’s feasible, it should match what the cpu can achieve.
if you really want more performance, adding a proper gpu and further cpu tweaking would be better, but ultimately you might need to switch to a ryzen r3 or r5 instead.
