I just recorded about 20 minutes of gameplay footage for personal use. The codec got damaged because I closed dxtory early, so I had to recreate it in VLC. Later, when using MusicExtractor, all three files turned into corrupt .wav files. I attempted to convert them but couldn't fix the issue. I can still hear the audio by opening the original files in VLC. Can I extract the audio with VLC or another tool?

This could be a low-cost fix, but you can listen to the audio using VLC and capture it (just sound, no video) so you keep it. The video with audio should play in VLC? You might want to test it in Windows Movie Player since I know you can extract audio from videos there.

I considered it but will need to record for one hour at a time (three tracks won’t play all together). Probably that’s the only option. After editing, I converted the video to audio and used my damaged .wav file as a reference—hope it works (it should be checked track by track).

What remains is audio or audio plus video. You might attempt editing in Audacity.

I only have video content so far, and I'm working on converting audio using VLC. The initial attempt didn't work, but I'll give it another try without needing a reference file.

Using the default codec for dxtory lets you simply click the file to extract the audio tracks into individual files.
