Your laptop already has 16GB of RAM, so adding another 8GB will bring it to the desired total. The existing model you checked is EOL, but the alternative M471A1K43 CB1 appears compatible. No issues expected if you purchase the CB1 units. Running on Ubuntu and focusing on programming should work fine.

Everything looks good. Both operate at identical speeds and voltages, so it shouldn't cause any problems.
