we have installed network ports all over the basement. our actiontech t3200m is connected via a nokia fibre converter with perfect performance. after finishing the basement, we couldn't add more wiring. in the office room before chia mining we had sufficient ports for our computers. now we've added two more for farming and plotting chia. we also installed a 5-port gigabyte switch on one of those connections, but the link speed is only 40/90 with a 1.0gbps adapter. the office port is about 25 to 30 feet from the home router. is there any way to boost the speed or should we run two separate cables from the switch to each computer?

Cat5e supports Gigabit speeds up to 100 meters (328 feet). When link negotiation indicates gigabit but the actual connection drops below 100 Mbps, it may point to a software problem. If you link these devices directly to the wall, do they maintain 300/300 Mbps? You might need another network switch.
