I'm having trouble fitting the Aorus Elite X570 ATX motherboard into the Silent Base 600 ATX case. The design has extra bumps and unusual features, making it hard to align all screws properly. Some fasteners don't seem to fit correctly, especially number 4 and 5. I suspect the integrated IO-shield might be the issue—it has steel strips that aren't positioned well for the case opening. In my attempts, I've tried loosening parts, adjusting alignment, and even pushing the board down, but nothing sticks. The shield appears to shift to one side more than center. I'm unsure if it's safe to remove the case backboard or take the shield off. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Start by partially securing 3 and 7, then move to 1 and 8 or 9 (partially secure), followed by adding screws in each remaining hole. Tighten gradually, turning a bit at a time until everything is firmly fastened. The motherboard should align properly. Remove any old IO shields from the case. Always work diagonally—opposite corners. This method also applies to coolers.
Ensure the attachment is firmly secured at the designated points after the IO shield is positioned.
So I haven't worked with that case but found a thread on reddit with a group of people having this problem Here a quote from there for a solution Hello All again. ​ I can confirm that in fact are those small pegs around the IO shield. After my prior reply, I turned off the computer, took the motherboard out and pushed those little pegs back. After doing so, the motherboard aligned almost perfectly and was no trouble at all to put in the screws. Thankfully they were not cross-threaded as I feared! I reviewed the situation and noticed the shield design differs slightly from what I expected. I considered adjusting the strips, but discovered a protrusion below the motherboard. The IO-shield features a support structure near hole 4, which usually isn’t an issue. However, the larger standoffs on the Silent Base 600 cause friction against this structure, lifting the board around that area. You can observe some wear from the bump in the photo. Since relocating the board isn’t feasible, I’m unsure if a simple fix will work without more drastic measures: 1) Try fitting the board as best as possible and tolerating the lift from standoff 4. 2) Modify the shield’s supportive part to avoid contact with the case. As someone new to building, I’m hesitant about risking the motherboard. 3) Replace it with a standard case. What would be the most practical choice?
I'd consider using a file or similar tool to remove some metal from the case. This wouldn't affect the motherboard, preserving its resale value and reducing the risk of warranty rejection if problems arise later. You could also try hammering and pressing down on the standoff instead of screwing it directly into the motherboard—this would keep the board securely fastened with the other screws, preventing movement inside the case.
Sorry for the delayed reply, had to catch a few zzzz’s. I checked online and didn’t find any images of the motherboard backside. I came across one video that gave a partial view. Based on what I saw, here’s what I think and my plan. There are two silver screws that seem only to secure the I/O shield. I’d remove them and try putting the shield in place alone to see if those (probably called legs) touch anything. Also, test whether the shield can snap into position without the motherboard. If it works, you have three choices: 1. Remove the motherboard stands out or make a slit for the leg to slide through—this would be tough and might damage a crucial mount for your GPU since it sits directly underneath. 2. If the shield fits without the board, just cut off the legs completely and install the motherboard as if it were standard, without the shield attached. 3. File down or remove the I/O shield leg where it touches the stand (you should see rubbing in the photo). Could there be another leg contacting something else?
