Incident during setx execution
Incident during setx execution
Earlier today, I was trying to modify system environment variables, specifically adding Python to the Path, using the Command Prompt. I looked up the setx command and experimented with it. Initially, I considered testing it in a VMware environment, but since I wasn’t focused on the result, I applied it directly to my system. The command I used was "setx Path "C:\Users\(my username)\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37-32 /m". After updating the Path, I checked the Environment Variables section and realized I’d altered the entire path. I attempted a System Recovery, but it encountered errors 0x8007045b and 0x8007007e. It mentioned issues extracting the original directory from a restore point, pointing to something like %ProgramFiles%\WindowsApps or AppStaging. I need to reverse this change right away. Any advice?
You can revert the registry to its prior state before applying system changes. Follow these instructions. https://pureinfotech.com/restore-registr...indows-10/ This applies when you don’t have the regback files installed. Refer to https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help...lder-start if applicable. Proceed with the same process but instead restore the registry hive and manually fix the boot environment using the open command prompt, then navigate to the registry path and set the environment accordingly.
