It's feasible that 128MB of VRAM isn't sufficient. Consider increasing it to around 512MB or higher and test it.

I changed from Linux Mint XFCE to the Linux Mint Debian version. I'm checking whether the stable Debian release won't cause my computer to freeze. So far, it hasn't caused any issues.
