Hi everyone. I found this old build for some classic games at a charity sale. I adjusted the CPU's clock speed from 3.00ghz to 3.1 in the BIOS to test. The PC doesn't boot on the first try, but after the second attempt it starts Windows and the clock setting is ignored. I didn't change any other settings. I expected something like VCore or similar to work at default to get 3.1. All other specs like temps, benchmarks, RAM, and GPU are fine.

To reach 3.1GHz, you needed to boost the FSB, didn't you?
Raising the FSB also leads to higher RAM speeds. It's possible your RAM isn't designed to handle faster rates than its specifications allow.
Consider reducing the RAM speed.

That's correct, just boosted fsb. Found a note about a small o/c required. Will verify ram speed next. Rated for 800Hz.

Most of my E8400s handled 3.6GHz on a 400MHz FSB without any issues.

Lowered RAM speed unsuccessfully. It’s been a real pain. I’ll attempt it again this weekend and will share the outcome. The CPU is outdated, but it still meets my requirements for retro gaming.

The model of your mobile device is not specified. The RAM stick or CPU claims a certain memory speed.

If you adjust FSB to 400MHz, verify that the FSB:RAM ratio is configured at 1:1 (the motherboard should indicate the anticipated RAM speed)
