Reviewed my setup and noticed Autoruns captures everything except MS services, which is disappointing. For our upcoming task it will take a bit longer. Use Registry Editor PE on the Hirens disk to inspect and modify each service. https://us.informatiweb.net/tutorials/it...ndows.html The guide explains starting the registry connection setup, but adjust paths like C:\ to D:\ and update document paths to C:\Users\ as required. Walk through each services folder in the Remote Key section of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services, setting Start to 2 for Automatic and Disabled to 4. This process is quite intensive, so it’s wise to back up the registry first and let me know which services you’d like to configure. I’ve attached an export from my system (Windows 10) for reference. services.txt
Thank you for your feedback. We successfully got the system running after extensive registry adjustments. A backup of the registry was already present in a folder called RegBackup, though it was from last year. We restored it and verified each service, adjusting start values to their standard settings. This helped us maintain consistency—some entries like 4 (disabled) needed to stay as 4 instead of being changed to 2 (automatic). We also confirmed correct values for others that varied. When we couldn’t locate something, we compared it with another reliable PC. Learning how to import registry hives into regedit proved challenging, but we discovered each registry section corresponds to a distinct system file. We temporarily used Windows regedit to test changes before finalizing edits. Exporting a backup was an option, but the process still required careful handling. It’s impressive how quickly a Windows PC can become unusable, yet repairing it remains difficult. I’m glad our notes might assist others.
I accidentally gone into this issue of disabling system services from msconfig and have tried all the ways to login to system like changed windowsNT>>passwordless registry key from 2 to 0 by this it just showed me password box to enter password but again when i enter the password it is saying wrong password. And i have also tried other way of replacing on screen keyboard option to cmd but nothing happened. I have a another account on the system but it does not have admin privileges, so even i enter into the system i cant do anything. I was hoping to try this by the way you told but the sevices.txt file is missing please share it again and please let me know if there is easier way to do this. I am using windows 11 machine. I have access to local guest account so how can it be helpful
