Hello, new member here! Please forgive if I missed something. The problem is that during gameplay the screen drops to one frame and then jumps back to normal, causing a stutter that intensifies over time. This occurs every few seconds, sometimes more frequently. It happens no matter what I'm doing—standing still or moving—and seems linked to optimization issues in some games. The stutter isn't resolved by any settings changes, and it's not due to overheating or system strain. I've checked temperatures and performance, but the issue persists. I'm using a fairly recent setup: Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, ASUS ROG Strix B550, and Corsair Vengeance LPX. The system runs Windows 11 with MSI Afterburner monitoring.

Do you have any custom content created for the CPU? Have you tried using Curve Optimizer (PBO)? It seems helpful to set everything to auto in BIOS, especially during testing, and also check memory settings. Make sure DOCP is disabled and set to auto. Is this feature available across all games? Which monitor are you using and do you enable adaptive sync?

I don’t have any OC settings on my CPU. I own the curve for my CPU on DC, but if it’s set to Auto the fan isn’t working properly... I only updated the DC curve after BIOS and turned off Armory Crate; the rest should be auto. DOCP is off and there’s no overclocking enabled. This problem used to appear in some games years ago, then disappeared and now comes back. So far it’s only happened once, but it was exactly like before. I’m hoping other games won’t suffer this again. My monitors are both Asus 144Hz, though I don’t know the exact model. I haven’t changed adaptive sync settings, so I’m not sure.

It's typically the game that causes stuttering, occurring in about 90% of cases.

It's not the fan curve, it's the voltage curve for the CPU. If PBO is just on auto, everything is okay. Armoury Crate is the source of all trouble. Did you run the uninstall tool after changing it in BIOS? If not, do it. You should completely wipe it out. https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury crate/helpdesk_download/ You can verify g-sync on your monitor's OSD (adaptive sync or freesync if it isn't a G-sync display). In the Nvidia control panel, search for G-Sync compatibility. Regarding RAM, confirm they operate at 3000mhz or 2133mhz. You can always reactivate DOCP after testing. In BIOS you might want to disable CPPC and CPPC preferred cores. I did that on my 5800x3d and it worked fine.

The present title is Final Fantasy XVI, a poorly optimized version! Yet this problem matches what I experienced before—affecting every game, including smaller ones under 1 GB.

The numbers don’t match; a noticeable drop this big usually exceeds 1 fps unless you’re starting from a very low baseline. What’s your target for the 0.1% or 1%?

Do you have multiple monitors? Are they all set to refresh at the same time?

Armoury Crate is completely destroyed. In the Nvidia Control Panel, G-Sync Compatibility appears for Monitor Technology. RAM shows 2133 in a CMD prompt, and Task Manager lists it as 2133 MT/s. I might attempt to turn off CPPC and its preferred cores. Could you tell me where these settings are located? Disabling them would disable those features.

I'm not completely certain; I'll need to check it out. My current frame rate is 60, but after a while the game drops to 59 and then stabilizes at 60, causing stuttering.
