With VSync enabled, you see around 130fps on a 144Hz display. Turning it off lets you hit 500-600fps.

Disable Vsync in source games. When I played HL2 and turned on Vsync, it caused lag. Linus also mentioned similar issues with Vsync and L4D.

I’d verify your display drivers to determine if you can cap the frame rate at 144 Hz... while many CS:GO players deliberately run at hundreds of FPS to minimize latency.

VSYNC can lead to delayed input response. Unlimited frame rates may strain your CPU/GPU performance.

In Steam, you can limit the frames per second using console commands in various games without VSync, for example setting t.maxfps to a specific number.

Avoid using VSync for a game unless you notice clear screen tearing, even with minor input delay.

Avoid using Vsync unless you're experiencing serious screen tearing. It lowers your FPS and adds delay. Many CS:GO players aim for around 400 FPS to minimize latency.

Enhances hit rate by accelerating server updates. CSGO and 1.6 use comparable network setups, tied to display refresh speeds.
