For Hogwarts Legacy and similar high-end games, using an 8x2 (16 GB) RAM setup in 2023-2024 is generally acceptable. It provides sufficient memory for smooth performance, though older systems may still run well with careful optimization.

The recommendation for 32GB of RAM in Hogwarts Legacy is likely to ensure smooth performance and support for the game's features, especially under Ultra settings.

For beginners in gaming, 16GB works just fine. You don’t have to go with 1440p or higher plus detailed settings. With the falling costs of DDR4 and DDR5, having 32GB is actually a solid choice for a couple of years if you already own a mid-range or better system. Since RAM tends to consume a lot of power, it’s worth noting that maybe the game includes built-in Chrome through its engine? lol

It was one of my initial ideas about how it uses RAM. Does it allow multiple Facebook and Instagram tabs open, similar to Chrome?

The games needing over 16GB are uncommon. Generally, 16GB should be sufficient.

I play Hogwarts Legacy in 1440p ultra resolution with 2x8GB of RAM, and it works well. 16GB is more than enough for most titles, though some games really need less memory.

You already have a system with 16GB, so continue until you need more capacity, then evaluate alternatives. If you're starting fresh today, I'd immediately opt for 32GB. This is especially important with DDR5, since the 8GB modules aren't ideal and using four of them isn't recommended.
