I chose to check how things would unfold if I left a Windows XP machine online. Within ten minutes of connecting, I encountered several viruses, a trojan, and numerous public IP addresses claiming affiliation with the defense ministry and the FBI. My curiosity grew—why would they want access to my computer? Why do they display IPs from random locations instead of a central headquarters? Despite having Avast and Malwarebytes installed, I only visited common sites used by regular users, and nothing alarming happened.

You were on some questionable websites that quickly delivered viruses, trojans, and various 'publisher' content. Just because Windows XP doesn’t receive security patches doesn’t guarantee it won’t be hit by malware in minutes.
