I aim to enhance the memory in my A1342 MacBook (late 2009). It currently has two DDR3 2GB PC3-8500 1066MHz modules, and I plan to swap out one for a DDR3 4GB 1Rx8 PC3L -12800S. Adding these would bring the total RAM up to six GB. There could be compatibility concerns since the sticks are different types.

It's usually not recommended to use two distinct types of RAM together because of their varying capacities. The speed of the second type depends on its specifications.

It doesn't matter, I attempted it and it seems Mac OS blocks access when you use RAM that differs.
