Hey everyone. I just learned the hard drive from Amazon isn’t working, so I’m switching to a 500 GB SSD. I think it’s not powerful enough for gaming, so I plan to get a 1 TB one later. I have an OEM Windows 10 Pro key, but I’m unsure if adding a new drive will reactivate it.

It won’t cause any problems. Installing a hard drive onto your system won’t turn off Windows, and the Windows version should work well with your 500GB SSD—just keep in mind you might need to engage Microsoft’s automated support.

The SSD is preloaded with an NTFS file structure ready for Windows 10 installation.

Places such as Kinguin offer keys that take advantage of that system. It's really cool!

If you purchase an SSD, you won’t need to manually convert it into an NTFS format for Windows to download and install. The drive will automatically load when connected to your computer using Windows 10.

Do you have Windows 10 already installed on that computer? If yes, you won’t need any activation—it will set up automatically. Just install the operating system.

Install drive while system boots from the flash image. Windows 10 remains active on the compact USB during setup. No downloads occur until the desktop appears and updates begin.
