Improving your laptop's Wi-Fi card performance
Your Dell Inspiron 7537 laptop comes with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip. Based on Intel’s guidelines, it should work with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. However, you’re not seeing any 5 GHz connections. Since you’ve recently installed a fresh Windows version, there’s no Dell software blocking the card. My thought is that Dell may have restricted the 5 GHz band in the BIOS. If anyone has another explanation or suggestions, please share—it would be helpful.
I'm not familiar with this topic, but a 5GHz signal covers less distance than 2.4GHz and doesn't go through thick walls. What is your internet speed? You might miss out on 5GHz WiFi benefits if your connection limit is low.
You would adjust the card's settings in the game's interface, typically found within the card creation or customization options.
Verify your router's compatibility with 5 GHz WLAN and turn it on. Review the channel configuration on your device. Ensure you're using a channel that's available in your area since some channels don't overlap regionally. Examine the adapter settings (Network & Internet Status) on your laptop, confirming all relevant options are activated.
The 5GHz network works perfectly across all devices in my home, including Windows PCs, Apple laptops, iPhones, Android tablets, and a Raspberry Pi.
