Improving window performance
Hello, I own a Windows 10 tablet with an Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. It’s mainly used for streaming services like Netflix that aren’t available on my TV box. I also use it while traveling since my gaming laptop is too heavy to carry. The BIOS is quite unusual, and I’ve tried installing Windows 7 but am unsure if I can do it without damaging the device or losing access to the OS. My goal is to strip away as much of the Windows 10 functionality as possible—especially resource-heavy features like antivirus and malware scanning, which aren’t needed for me anymore. I don’t require many advanced tools or Cortana services.
Avoid removing those spyware virus tools; instead, disable Real Time Protection. They cause delays by checking for viruses before launching, which slows down the system significantly. I keep all my shH*T applications running in the background, along with Defender, Malwarebytes Spybot, and SuperAntispyware. When I manually right-click on any downloaded file, I verify it against these programs. Occasionally, Malwarebytes might trigger a false alarm. It's best to run them in the background, but having at least 2GB of RAM helps them operate smoothly even when Real Time Protection is off. Just right-click the files and compare them with these applications.
You can keep a defender in the background while disabling real-time protection so each file doesn’t need to be scanned before launching. I started my defender, but real-time protection is off. Also, malwarebytes, spybot, and spyware are running in the background without real-time scanning—everything is handled manually. With only 2GB of RAM, removing unnecessary processes helps speed things up. You can turn off your protection apps, but you’ll still see the right-click context menu to scan for viruses or malware using the tools listed above.
